MIDI Connections
The following are basic instructions for connecting your 5200 to a MIDI interface for
remote control:
Before you connect 5200 MIDI Ins and Outs, connect and configure your MIDI interface
according to the manufacturerʼs instructions.
To connect a 5200 to a MIDI interface:
1. Connect a MIDI cable between the MIDI Out port on your 5200 and the MIDI In port on
your MIDI interface.
2. Connect a MIDI cable between the MIDI In port on your 5200 and the MIDI Out port on
your MIDI interface.
3. Press the REMOTE WAKEUP on the 5200.
Configuring AMS for 5200
(Mac Only)
The following are basic instructions for configuring the 5200 in the Apple Audio MIDI
Setup application (AMS).
1. To configure your 5200 with AMS: 1 Do one of the following:
•Launch the Apple Audio MIDI Setup (Applications/Utilities).
– or –
•In Pro Tools, choose Setup > MIDI > MIDI Studio.
2. In AMS, choose Window> Show MIDI Window
3. Choose MIDI Devices > Add New External Device; and do the following:
Double-click the New External Device icon.
4. Select Digidesign as the Manufacturer and select PRE as the Model then click
Properties.
*As the 1788A and 188 emulate the Digidesign PRE and Pro Tools will show “PRE” in
the Peripherals window, we recommend that you label your MIDI device “PRE.” This will
save confusion later on.
